There seems to be an exponential increase in fun relative to contestants. Sam Roberts and Steve Kidd made the journey up the A1 to meet QU12 old hands Keith Marshall and Mike Foden along with buzzer newbie Daniel Fullard (see Daniel's excellent Quiz Blog for an object lesson in how to objectify your passion)
It's probably best to watch the films to get the full story, but, SPOILER ALERT, Mike Foden's storming performance in the first game put him in a great position. In retrospect a couple of critical moments cemented Mike's awesomeness (watch the game three answer late on to "What plant is on the cap of a Welsh guard?" when Steve fails with "Daffodil", and Mike gets joint second place alongside Sam with his answer "Leek")
These are strictly IMHO, contestants are welcome to put their choices on the facebook page
There will be quizzing from one in the afternoon to five, maybe six in the evening (Keith has to get back up north). The event will take place in a big old comfy room down the back of the pub, it has a beer garden and excellent value food and beer.
The Graduate, is 150 yards the Lendal Bridge, smack dab between York Railway Station (c 500m) and York Minster (c 300m), across the road from the museum and 20 yards from The River Ouse. Now: there is no pub car parking, but on-street will cost you a couple of quid if you can find it, but York has a bangin' Park and ride service with busses every ten minutes. Rawcliffe Bar Park and Ride on the ring road will take you to a stop from where the Panorama at the top of the page is taken
So: We have a world heritage site, great transport, one of the best museums in the country over the road and the awesome Railway museum around the corner, overseen by the finest example of Gothic Architecture this side of the River Rhine, in our own little corner with a beer garden and beer is £2.50 a pint. (I know, I said it was cheaper on Facebook, it yet might be, but the £2.09 is not always in stock)
Pub phone number: 01912 304 236 * My phone number: 07462 272 552
£5 in advance to enter, £10 on the day + a set of questions (Book questions are fine, but it moves things along quicker if the questionmaster is confident about the questions he is asking, where to find the answers, etc)
All monies into prize kitty
