Round Nine Review

Home Advantage

We were going to go to Liverpool, but seeing as Martin and Sam live in Prestwich, and nobody from Liverpool manned up, we thought we might as well stop at home. Jack the Landlord obligingly let us have the front room, whilst Manchester City trounced Tottenham 6-0 in the main bar

LSQ is so tight that small mistakes make big differences. That happened today, but I won't write about it now. Watch the last film right to the end and you will see what I mean. Watch the films before you read the results at the bottom of the page

Oww! This hurts me (Steve Kidd), nevertheless it will teach me to exercise the simple expedient of checking the handicaps. Martin had a great game, and waltzes away with the most improved player after this, his second victory.

Aah! That's better!!! I know people are going to say "Steve Kidd? he can only win a competition he organises himself." Damn right! I certainly can't win any competitions I've been banned from, and for any haters out there, you are welcome to come along and try your hand. I am incredibly proud to have competed against some terrific quizzers, Perhaps a mark of the quality of player is reflected in that Daniel Fullard was 28th in the "British Quiz Championship" this year, Chris Curtis came out as leading buzzer in the QLL team championships and I might suggest that all our players play to at least Mastermind standard. For anybody to even hint that this is not a competition for "serious quizzers" is retarded. Fellers, you were wicked, and you have my eternal gratitude.

It is fascinating to look at the little rivalries: Sam and Martin (Martin edged the buzzes by 338 to 335, Sam nicked the standings 67 to 62 and only one difference in the handicaps). In the Nort-East Keith squeezed ahead of Mike - One point in the handicaps, One point in the standings and 141-139 in the buzzes (a chasm!).
