Scafell PikeLightSpeed Individual Open Buzzer Quiz 2014

Midsummer Day at The Highest Point in England

Long time no post... Sorry! Anyhoo, I will be climbing up Scafell Pike on Saturday 21st June 2014, and if anybody would like to join us I will run a buzzer quiz at the top. It will be 100 questions played with the SpeedQuizzing software (If you have never used it it is a swift download from the app store on your phone or tablet, and is great fun). The format will be Preston Rules, i.e first buzz gets to give an answer remaining players get the opportunity to agree or disagree for half points. It will be evil mode so and incorrect first buzz will lose you points. There will be no handicaps, and

anybody can enter for free, but if you want to win any prizes apart from the medal, I will require £10 in advance

The prizes will be as follows:

Prize pot: All entry monies. For the first five paid entries I will double the pool, with 50% going to the winner, 30% to second and 20% for third. If between 6 and 10 people enter it will be £50, £30 and £20. More than that and I'll let you know.

I will, of course, be filming it with three camera positions, and editing it for YouTube and I think it will make the most beautiful setting

If the weather is crap we will find a pub somewhere between Ambleside and Langdale

Kids more than welcome

This is a mountain and a the wettest place in England, and though the path is well trodden, you would look daft if you were not appropriately prepared. Stout boots, warm clothes, waterproof. Don't let that put you off, because it can usually be most beautiful, with views to five different countries on the clearest of days.

I will very probably be going up on the Friday for a prompt start (The sun reaches it's zenith just before quarter past one in the afternnon, i am budgeting a very comfy four hours to walk the 9 kilometres from the Dungeon Ghyll hotel). If anybody would like to go up the night before I would definitely make one in.

I reckon this is the kind of thing that would look great on your resumé; imagine telling people "I am British high altitude quiz champion!". I reckon it would be an even better personal experience.
