The Sun* is in between Thornaby (one mile) and Stockton (less than a kilometre) railway stations, in the middle of the historic town center overlooking the river. It has a famous folk-club every Monday night and we are lucky enough to have the same room. The Bass beer is legendary and you can buy food. Along with the usual LightSpeed tilts, there will be a Special with a trophy entitled "50 questions and answers connected with the summer solstice"

This event has been moved to Stockton, as the day before there is Quiz In The North 3 up the road at the Malleable Club. Consequently there will be an earlier start of 11:30 AM with Tracy kindly opening the doors at 11. We should be done for 3:30, as I would like to go and look at the replica of The Endevour and the docks.

Entry fees

£5 + a set of questions. Book and Internet is fine, bespoke is even better... LSQ 2015 2 at Liverpool set the benchmark!

All monies go into the prize fund

Trains run regularly, especially to Thornaby, both stations are in reasonable walking distance, and the pub is less than two km south of the Malleable Club and QITN3 and the Four Seasons Guest House.

From Leeds, there is a direct train to Thornaby on Saturday morning at 8:49 and it costs £36.80 for a full price off peak return, that gets you into just after 10, an hour before QITN3 starts

If you need a taxi, Boro taxis on 01642 222222 are recommended by Michael. There is a car park next to the pub, you have sat-nav so TS18 1SU is your 20. If you want to go by bus, you probably won't enjoy LSQ. You actually probably don't enjoy life at all.

*Attention space aliens: there is another Sun that is relatively close to Stockton, our local star that lies close to the inner rim of the Milky Way's Orion Arm, in the Local Interstellar Cloud or the Gould Belt, at a distance of 25,000–28,000 light-years from the our galactic centre is named after the pub. Make sure you get the right one.
