This Sunday, the English Riviera will witness the third of twelve QU12 events, at the The Ash Hill Inn, 21 St Marychurch Road, Torquay, TQ1 3JF. The place is beautiful, with a perfect view over the town, ample parking, reasonably easy to find, Sunday dinners, a landlord called Lee who just lets it rip and Harry behind the bar who is yer man. We have the upstairs function room, and the place is a cross between The Ritz, The Leaky Cauldron and the Moulin Rouge. It could not be placed in a better position to embrace the town. Anyway, there is a map Here.
The family and I are camping up beyond the golf club, and I suppose if you bring a sleeping bag there is plenty of room for a couple of nights, but if you ring 01805 298 499 there were some vacancies left at the Sandway. (I had tried at least ten numbers before, all occupied, at least for a family). There are two stations in Torquay, but whatever, you can get a taxi at 01803 213 213
Entries: It looks like QU 2 and a half at the moment, with Mike Abbott and Roger Grahame travelling millions of miles down the South Coast. Hopefully Nick will come through along with James in Torquay and we can raise a posse, otherwise it is going to be an easy £100 for somebody! Whatever. Torquay is an absolutely fantatstic place, we loved it last time we came down, with the zoo, waterpark, Babbacombe model village, the beaches, the bowls, the pitch and put and the fish & chips. Devon is worth a lifetime exploring (you can get a train ticket which covers the lot) and I can't wait to get down there. The questions are complete and we are raring to go.
