QU12 News 07, August 13th 2007:

Round Three Result: The South West & Rob Hannah's domination of Torquay

We came, we saw - Ron Hannah. Rob was the only person who turned up at the Ash Hill Inn to compete (There were eight crew - if only British schools had such a pupil to teacher ratio) He paid his money, he answered his question and he got his cheque and invite to the final. It is such a shame that he did not have any competition because the guy is a) top and b) A most excellent quizzer. I would warrent he will give Darren, Pat and anybody else who qualifies for the final a game, especially if he can get in just a bit of buzzer practice, which he will, if I have anything to do with it. I have included, for the first time, a film of the event, just to see if it comes through ok. If it loads I will then be able to put the other rounds on, but I am waiting to judge file sizes and upload/download times. There I go talking to myself again!

Nb Rob got the curse of lightspeed, going on to win £50 grand on WWTBAM. Could I hazard a guess that this particular round was the best £10 anybody had ever spent on a quiz in terms of risk/reward ratio? We also had the greatest time ever in Torquay and have loved the South West since this day. Go!

Brandon, Suffolk, Sunday 19th August 2007

This Sunday, the fourth of twelve QU12 events, will take place at The Brandon Parish Institute. Once again, aesthtetic considerations have knocked pragmatism out of the window, as Brandon, allthough and exquisite village in the fens has been the inspiration for poets, painters, lovers and historians, it has a population of 23, so it looks like it is going to be Diane's game.

Brandon is a small market town situated on the Norfolk/Suffolk border, approximately 30 miles from Cambridge and 35 miles from Norwich. It lies on the main Norwich to Ely railway line. The Town Council website can be found here

If you click on this map, which shows you where the institute is, it will take you to the appropriate streetmap page, from where you can get the map of your choice

Entries: It looks like QU 1 at the moment, but I will stand the drop of York if Diane doesn't have some competition on the day - once I have finished this weeb site and done the emails I can concentrate on numbers. Speaking of which...!
