JEREMY BEADLE TO HOST FINAL

The Last Round and Final on the 9th December of QU12 2007 will be hosted by showbiz legend Jeremy Beadle. Not only has Jeremy hosted zillions of TV shows (including four separate programmes which have occupied the Number One ratings slot), he is probably the most knowledgeable of presenters, having authored and contributed to numerous tomes including Today's the Day, The Book of Lists and The People's Almanac. His appearences on celebrity versions of Mastermind and Who wants to be a Millionaire illustrated his depth of knowledge, and his personal appearances are, I am informed, the stuff of quiz legend.

Bring it on!

QU12 News 14, October 23rd 2007:

Round Seven Report, Durham

QU12 2007 round seven, at: The Dun Cow Inn, may have been the best so far. What made it so good? The pub, the city, the quiz but most importantly, the competitors (and audience). I'm not going to tell you the result, for that you can go to the films and watch them, nevertheless along with the established names of QU12 (Barry Simmons and Mark Kerr), The Sunderland Echo quiz league, The Newcastle Sports quiz league and local competitors were all represented with honour. I just can't wait to see Mike Foden participate in a pop quiz, and I am looking forward to meeting them all again - sooner rather than later. All rounds went to the last question and I am sure that all would agree that any one of eight players could have won the round (Mike and Adam had never played in competetive buzzer quiz before, and I am sure did not expect to come up against multiple champions with premature ejaculation of the fingers)

Golden moments to look out for: the only two sixes were scored by local lads (On the Isley brothers and Pi) - Barry's torture on The Magnificent Seven - The Mickey Mouse question.

There was some great buzzing after the show, yielding some plum answers

Question master - Subject is 1956 - what......?
Answer from Barry Howbridge - 1954? - (Can't remember what the real answer was)

Question master - Which great Dane played in g.....?
Answer from Steve Kidd - err Scoobie Doo? (Answer required was Peter Schmeical)

I asked the contestants to complete a questionaire. Of the eight completed and returned, these are the results. Thanks guys (apart from Barry and Mark who didn't do one)!
