QU12 News 15, October 7th 2007:

Round Eight, West Midlands

JEREMY BEADLE TO HOST FINAL

I know I just mentioned this at the top of the last news letter, but I am dead chuffed, so once again....The Last Round and Final on the 9th December of QU12 2007 will be presented by the one and only Jeremy Beadle. How many people have entertained fifteen million Britons every Saturday night week in week out? Nah - it just doesnt happen nowadays, but Jeremy, a supreme wit, raconteur and quiz legend is coming down to Aylesbury and I promise you, he will rock the joint, and I promise him, he will have the very best quiz show ever to host. If there is anybody out there who would want to watch (or participate) can you contact me ASAP as places will be limited on 07814 326 717. (Yes I know I say that every week - NOT!). Pinch me.

EXTRA PRIZES

In addition to the £100 for the round, the winners of rounds 8 to 12 will recieve a copy of Pears' Cyclopaedia. A Great big warm thank you to Jessie at Pears' for sending me the parcel (I thought it was a bomb). They are beautiful books, and I would hazard the most facts per square inch of any - If your eyesight is like mine you will need your glasses. Needless to say Pears' will yield at least 10 questions per round from now on. Here is a link to their page so you can order one

QU12 2007 round eight will be held at The Saracens Head, Stafford Rd, Weston. ST18 0HT , Staffordshire. (Tel 01889 270 286 and ask for Barbara or Graeme) Just over 7km from the M6 Junction 14, If I were you I would download the map image and print it. The pub itself is built between the picturesque Trent and Mersey Canal and the River Trent (on a dry patch). Steeped in history it now enjoys a reputation as a fabulous place to eat, and Weston has won awards for being the best kept village in Staffordshire, and looks like a great place to start a walk! I had the pleasure of visiting the village and taking a look around. The pub is in a sweet spot, all these photographs were taken within a shout of the pub. I had the Pork Steaks and they were superb. I am booking dinner for 2:15 if anybody else would like to do likewise.

Once again the will be a veritable galaxy of talent participating, with Martin Riley (15:1 four times grand finalist and champion) and Nick Duffy (28 on Mastermind and a 1.4 second fastest finger first on Who Wants to be a Millionaire) throwing their hats in the ring along with Slick Chris Curtis, 24 Carat Keith Pointon, Scott "Make Hay" Dawson, and "The Oracle of Drighlington" Lee Warburton. Keith is Head Honcho of the local quiz league, so hopefully we can get a few locals in. As long as nobody from Merseyside wins it! Please make sure you take some time out after filming for some buzzing, 'cos it was wicked after Durham.
