Carleton Bridge

Not a particularly big one this. All my life I have used Carleton Bridge, stood on the parapets, sat on the walls when there was nothing else to do when I was fourteen, used it as the ramp to some of my greatest adventures, knew I was home when the train passed beneath it and it is now the vital link for myself, my dog and my kids for visiting one another.

It lies at the bottom of a hill on Carleton Road, and was two way. Now it is one way (at a time). Despite their being ample room for cyclists you have to stop for the red light, and even if you do go through on green there may not be enough time to cross.

John Coleville, Wakefield Councillor says it is now better for cyclists
